PHOENIX

Phoenix came into our care aged 5
months along with her two brothers, Mitch and Frankie because their
"breeder" could not sell them. They were to be handed in to the
Pound, when a local rescue stepped in and took them, they then made
their way to us.
A couple of days after she
arrived, Phoenix was taken to the vets, seriously ill. The vets
thought she had an obstruction in her stomach, and wandered if that was
the reason she had not thrived, and was almost half the size of her
brothers.
After being kept in the vet for 2
days, Phoenix had her operation, and the vets removed a very large piece
of blue tarpaulin from her stomach, and very fortunately it had not gone
down into her intestines, but it had been there for quite some time!!.
Phoenix got out of the vet, and into a foster home the next day, and
there was an immediate improvement in her brightness and appetite.
Over the next 2 weeks Phoenix put on 2.5 kgs in weight, and things
seemed to be going well...
Then in April, Phoenix needed to
undergo surgery to remove some of her teeth. Because her growth
had been so severely stunted by having that obstruction, her jaw was too
small to accommodate all of her adult teeth.
Phoenix recovered well from that
operation, and is continuing to make good progress with her training and
social skills in her foster home, but still needs a bit of work yet.
